Western fascist colonialism has passed through the hands of Catholic church, the European royalty and now passing through the hands of western nationalist governments and financial institutions. It would be wrong to say that those former players are not involved anymore, rather involved in limited but complicated ways.
Western governments have supported despots in Muslim countries and other non-Muslim third world countries as far back as colonialism, continuing to this day. They never honored the hope and aspirations of self-rule for Muslims and welfare of global third world population. This has created mass suffering for, specially Muslims and global population in their existence resulting in poverty, increasing wealth gap, intellectual backwardness, political and social instability and corruption and social moral disaster. The gulf oil producing countries have been the lap dogs of western hegemony whose wealth from oil has been wasted to develop western economy and the royalty in expense of the Islamic Ummah. Same has happened with African continent. West never wants an independent self-ruled Muslim ummah. Likewise, west will never stop the Islamic resistance.
Muslims must not forget how European colonialism has wiped Islamic existence from South East Asia, Africa and Arabia. When British ruled for example current Malaysia and Singapore, Muslims were put at the bottom of social class with no opportunities to rise in the administration and economy. Also, the Muslim society demographics was changed by forced immigration by the British. We Muslims did not accept what was done to us by colonialism whether in Malaya, Africa, Arabia. Still same colonialism going on. West hasn't changed a bit. We will not forget. We will not forgive.
For hundreds of years Western world has forcefully and violently emigrated to others lands often by decimating the natives and their way of life but when today refugees seek sanctuary from western bombings and intervention west get mad and cry out loud. Is not that hypocrisy and arrogance? Yes! West must fully give sanctuary to all these refugees until west rebuilds what they destroyed giving full reparations for loot and plunder and halting completely neocolonialism. The true spirit of UN charter must be realized globally.
The major driving force for Colonialism was finance. I will not blame Christianity because the Catholic church has abused Christianity in unimaginable ways and this is common knowledge among the church enthusiasts. Unlike Muslims the financial capabilities and capacity of western civilization have been boosted through colonialism (loot, genocide and subjugation) when they came over large deposits of minerals in Australia, Americas and Africa. A huge boost in terms of economic capability, financial opportunities and research opportunities. So, they built administration, roads, bridges, security apparatus, legal system and other necessary tools to manage these newly found financial treasures. World deserves better, humanity deserves justice. These imposition of new outlook of life and societal existence was done not only to loot and plunder the resources but also to make long term viable markets in the colony for western products and political dominance.
Western legal, philosophical, scientific and economical thought thrived during this time of colonialism as European colonial tyranny gained more factors of productions, knowledge and experimental opportunities from their colonies. The rise of Adolf Hitler devastated the traditional colonialism of Western countries as war finance almost bankrupted them. Many colonies found independence, but this independence did not give them intellectual, political and economic independence and equality in the fullest sense as the human capital was devastated and dependence on western support and market was inescapable while dictators and despots were placed over the population by colonial fathers through newly created maps and identities.
Almost every Muslim country on the planet was conquered, colonized and exploited by Europeans or Russians. Most of those countries became free of the colonizer only since the end of World War II, with many gaining independences in the 1960s. Although most Muslims living today were born after World War II (and even after 1980), colonization has cast a long, dark shadow. Just as abolishing de jure discrimination has not eliminated de facto racial discrimination in the United States, the simple act of becoming independent does not immediately eliminate the attitudes, customs, and institutions of either the colonizer or the colonized.
We are in the age of neocolonialism. Instead of traditional colonialism where genocides, crimes against humanity, torture and engineered famine were a common occurrence now the new occurrences are coup, espionage, sabotage, sedition, civil war, monetary policies, debt trap and even war among the other techniques of this neocolonialism. Thanks to Adolf Hitler for the end of traditional colonialism. The Neocolonialism started soon after. Following second world war, the United States and United Kingdom used their political power, specially over their former and existing colonies to create systems of economic management and protection to mitigate the worst effects of free trade and neutralize the competing appeals of communism.
Some of the neocolonial institutions that have been created by them are Bank of International Settlement, IMF, World Bank, Security Council and other institutions of global governance. The G8 represent less than 15% of world population yet have over 60% of its income. 80% of the permanent members of the UN Security Council represent white Western states, 60% from Europe. The West has veto power in the World Bank, IMF and WTO and regulates global monetary policies through the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) and IMF. By tradition, the head of the World Bank is always a US citizen, nominated by the US President, and the IMF is a European. Although the rest of the world now has a majority in many international institutions, it does not have the political power to reject decisions by the Western minority.
While Bank of International Settlement (BIS) is the banker’s bank. The BIS, the world’s most secretive global financial institution serves the financial needs of member central banks. It provides gold and foreign exchange transactions for them and holds central bank reserves. The BIS is also a banker and fund manager for other international financial institutions. The reserves held account for approximately 7% of the world's total currency. They set interest rates, thus deciding the value of our savings and investments. They decide whether to focus on austerity or growth. Their decisions shape our lives. For decades it has stood at the center of a global network of money, power, and covert global influence. Its current members [ZH: as of 2013] include Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the US Federal Reserve; Sir Mervyn King, the governor of the Bank of England; Mario Draghi, of the European Central Bank; Zhou Xiaochuan of the Bank of China; and the central bank governors of Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Canada, India, and Brazil. The details of the bank’s own core activities, including much of its banking operations for its customers, central banks, international organizations and governments remain secret.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an organization of 189 countries, and they say apparently that they are working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world. Although the facility had been specifically set up to finance much-needed oil imports, the IMF – as well as other western financial institutions – cared little about what the money was spent on. Whether it went straight into the pockets of dictators such as Mobutu in Zaire, Saddam Hussein in Iraq or Suharto in Indonesia or Pinochet– who either squandered it, transferred it to secret foreign accounts or used it for military purposes, in each case driving up the national debt – did not matter to the IMF and the banks as long as they received their interest payments regularly.
The World Bank is playing main role of providing cruel loans for development works to member countries, especially to underdeveloped countries. They play central role in implementing western sanctions among other political and military objectives of western governments. World Bank can mandate and condition to devalue currencies or reduce national government spending (austerity) in various areas, as pre-conditions for lending. The process by which these loans are made, and the funds distributed to their recipients has long been rife with waste, corruption and fraud. Even in the best circumstances, the types of projects that the Bank concerned itself with in its early days, infrastructure projects focusing on energy and transportation, served to primarily enrich those who were already the richest in the target countries, the friends and cronies of the corrupt rulers whose business interests could make use of such innovations. At its worst, the Bank has been used to underpin the rule of corrupt and tyrannical leaders and force entire nations into debt slavery.
WTO is only about market opening for western products and the word global development is totally absent from WTO. One way among many they achieve this is by patenting western inventions, preventing developing nations from using it until some better inventions are achieved by western minds. In this way they engineer a knowledge gap between rich and poor countries which started through traditional colonialism. Then there is the issue of sanctions as WTO can enforce sanctions on member states but in truth only the western countries can impose them on weaker and poorer countries.
It is clear that neocolonialism is a cooperation between the western financial institutions, political and military institutions. The western global financial institutions are based on a system of exploitation and debt enslavement of developing countries infiltrating these nations through the elite individuals and powerful businesses. The elites of the neocolonized nations benefit while the nations are deprived. If they cannot control and impose by finance or politics, then military is the last option. Through the cooperation and coordination of western financial institutions, political establishment and military industries they control and influence the world’s GDP, create market for western products, create shareholder wealth largely based in west such as powerful corporations, businesses and even private banks, reduce national debt and trade deficits of western countries, increase geopolitical power, export culture, increase currency value and manage liquidity of finance and market. Examples of these achievements are seen in cold war, countless sanctions, coups, sabotage, espionage, civil war by western intelligence services and wars against Muslim countries in Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
To counter this neocolonialism through self-determination and pursuit of independence for us Muslims we need to follow the Iranian Islamic revolution model 1979, and the neoncolonized countries should also follow the Islamic revolution or if they are reluctant, then follow the socialist revolutionaries.
